Susan’s diary: Vortex launches. We don’t go to the opening after the backstabbing that happened, too tired after cleaning out the offices and anyway, we are moving forward, so next time, and there will be a next time, we will be certain we have complete control. Lessons have been learned; no more partners or casual deals. Heard The Heartbreakers are playing with The Buzzcocks; big opening and a farewell to The Heartbreakers.

Don Letts: The Voidtex, or whatever you want to call it, was horrible, run by West End shysters and dodgy geezers. The first night I had an argument with them; they didn’t want me to play reggae. I just picked up my records and left. After that, I DJ’d at Camden Palace and went on tour with The Clash.
